Ha, I heard back from MetroTransit today, and considering that their response involved references to actions and framing that I didn't mention, I get the impression someone else might have written in a complaint. I also responded to the intercom announcement by shouting out "Sir? I was unable to catch the bus because I was helping an old man out of the middle of the street, the same one you left behind, sir", so maybe the arithmetic weighing midwesterner's fear and distrust of direct confrontation vs. midwesterner's requirements that you shall not be a dick and help out in shitty weather won out in my favor and other people reported.
