silversandbeaHey, so I'm still around - kinda. It's been busy - Memorial Day weekend I was in NYC for a wedding, and then this weekend I'll be in LA to meet my new nephew (he is small). I'll try to do some more writeups later, but in the meantime:

2. I really liked this essay by Nicasio Reed: “You Have Only Your Trust in Me”: Star Trek and the Power of Mutual Belief
3. So my friends and I were wondering about this copyright-skirting bar named Cheers that is opening up in Minneapolis and being marketed as a gay bar, because, I don't know, I haven't checked AO3 for this lately, but that's not the direction I would thought to go with the beloved 80's sitcom nostalgia (at least not that beloved 80's sitcom). There seemed like there should be a story behind this - and there was! Just nothing that explains the first two parts - it turns out that the owner is also incredibly anti-semitic? My only explanation at this point is that the neural network that is controlling my life has some quirks it needs to work out. I'm certainly not going to go there to find out more.
